The Middle East is very wealthy, not only in oil production and large revenues of selling it, but in fables and tales, when I was young, My grandma told me this story. In the time passed, there was a man decided to go to Makka, the sacred Muslim place, faraway from his country, to practice his belief in pilgrimage. Because the merchant was rich, and have no relatives around, he left large amount of money with a blacksmith who was opening a store across the street, He gave a parcel, full of gold, and told him to keep it for him, when he return back. The merchant went his way to Makka, perform his duty towards his God, bought some gifts, filled a small barrel from Zamzam sacred water (from the well near Ka'abah, the center of Muslim prayer, and collected his articles, and went back to his country. The pilgrimage journey in old times takes two months on camels. When he arrived to his village, he went directly to the blacksmith store. In that minute, the blacksmith was not in the store, so he waited. And waited, and waited, until the sunset, the blacksmith did not show up. The merchant left to his house, prayed for god. And asking him for forgiveness, he was a good man, slept the night, promising himself to get his basket of gold. The next day, after the morning prayer, he went out to see the blacksmith. Luckily, he found him in the shop. The merchant was smiling, said salam (hello) to the blacksmith, and sat on a nearby box of tools. No signs of the blacksmith show that he knew the merchant, after a while, the merchant said:
"well, brother, I want my basket of gold." "What? What basket of gold are you talking about?" Said the blacksmith. The merchant thought that the man did not recognize him, so he took his Abaya which covers his body. But the blacksmith ignore him. Then the merchant said:
"I am your neighbor, Abu saleem, don't you know me?" " No, I never saw your face. Go Away." The blacksmith shouted. The merchant thought that his head cover made the blacksmith not to recognize him, so he took off his head cover, and looked to the blacksmith, saying:
"I am Abu Saleem. The one who gave you a basket of gold, before two months, don't you remember me." "You are crazy, I did not know you." said the man.
Trying to take off his Thowb-dishdashih (long dress usually used by old men) to make himself recognizable to the blacksmith, when the blacksmith saw him, shouted with anger: "By God, whom I worship, stop stripping, if you strip your skin, I will never recognize you, do you have any proof ? " The merchant left the place saying: "La hawla wala Quwwata Illa Billah (God is Almighty, God is Almighty) The story ends here.
Comment:
In Islam, however, when people leave something valuable or sell something, they have to write down a contract between the two parties when it comes to money, because human beings are greedy when they see a chance to have money easily, God knows well about his creation, according to Holy Qur'an, the Muslim book. But the merchant put his trust in someone hands without taking a proof. A greedy person who did not have fear of God in his heart.
